Chicken is a lean protein and cooking it in the air fryer can easily result in dry and tough meat. However, there are several ways to prevent this from happening and ensure that your chicken breasts come out juicy and flavorful every time.
Firstly, it is important to never overcook the chicken. Set the air fryer to the recommended temperature and time for chicken breast and use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken. The temperature should reach 165°F at the thickest part of the chicken breast.
Secondly, marinating the chicken breasts beforehand can add moisture and flavor. A simple marinade of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and herbs can do wonders. Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes before cooking to allow the flavors to fully penetrate the meat.
Brining the chicken breast before making this air fryer chicken breast recipe yields wonderful results. A simple brine of saltwater solution, infused with herbs and curry spices not only helps chicken retain moisture even during cooking, but gives the wonderful aroma and flavor of the curry to the final dish. Once brined, rinse the chicken before cooking and pat dry, then dust with your favorite spice rub to get an even coat. I use my own homemade spice mix in this air fryer chicken breast recipe.
By following these tips, you can ensure that your air fryer chicken breasts come out juicy and delicious every time without sacrificing their crispy exterior.
Cooking tips for my version of air fryer chicken breast
Once you have brined the chicken breast and dusted with custom blended red curry powder, cooking this air fryer chicken breast is quite easy. Set the timer and temperature according to the chicken roast setting of your air fryer. Make a simple marinade with curry spice mix and cook it away. My pro tip is to open the air fryer halfway and give the chicken breast a good basting with sauce. Feel free to do this more than once during the cooking to have a nice spicy crust on chicken.
Always cook chicken until well done, using meat thermometer.
What to serve with air fried chicken breast
When it comes to serving air fried chicken breast, there are endless possibilities! This dish pairs well with a variety of sides, such as roasted vegetables, sweet potato fries, mashed potatoes, or a fresh side salad. You can also serve it with a dipping sauce, like honey mustard or BBQ, for an extra burst of flavor.
To add even more variety, you can experiment with different seasonings and spice blends to customize the flavor to your liking. Another twist to the air fryer chicken breast is to make them tandoori style with yogurt red curry spicy marinade. In this recipe you could skip brining and basting steps because yogurt and seasoning mix will prevent the chicken from drying out too much. Use skinless, boneless chicken breast for the tandoori style air fryer chicken breast recipe.
Make an easy tandoori style marinade by mixing the same amounts for seasonings given for the sauce with 2 tablespoons of whole milk Greek yogurt, teaspoon of mustard oil, turmeric, little lemon juice. Adjust the salt and pepper to your liking.
